Hi everyone,
First things first, I must apologise, I have been very preoccupied recently.
It's been a bumpy start to the year, but it's time to get back into the swing of things.
I've heard Thekiwigirlandherbike has been missed!
I was recently stopped by a "kiwigirl" follower and kindly reminded that there is an audience waiting for more.........
So, lets get back into it.
The last post, I talked about coming off the meds and returning to work, which, as you know, came with a different set of challenges touched on in the last post, but life goes on, and as it does, things tend to fall back into some kind of normality, and that's different for all of us right!
The start of things changing for me, was funnily enough during a drunken night with a girlfriend of mine. Feeling like things just couldn't get any worse, a year of healing, not just broken bones, but a broken heart too........... my girlfriends words to me were..........
(Now you have to appreciate our sense of humour here ok........... )
THE BEST WAY TO GET OVER SOMEONE GIRL.........
.................IS TO GET UNDER SOMEONE ELSE.
(oh my god, I hear you say)
Now, if nothing else, the mere thought of that was enough to make my sides split with laughter, and THAT was her objective.
We downloaded a dating app, (and with NO MALICE intended) gulped bubbles and giggled the night away.
The best food for the soul, good friends and laughter...........
Now this is the modern world, and this is how people meet these days' as objectifying and shallow as it may seem to judge someone by a photo, this IS actually how people meet these days. The integrity and honesty that goes with that is questionable though, and that is something you ave to judge for yourself.
Anyway.......... it was not long after this that I did actually and unashamedly, through a dating site without realising, met my future husband - and if you were to know me AT ALL....
I was never going to marry - EVER AGAIN.
We had both (in drunken states) been on this site as a laugh, and nothing more that that.
We had both gone on to the app to delete our profiles as cheesy as that sounds, and that's is when our paths crossed.
We agreed to exchange phone numbers, and started talking from there.
I guess where I am going with this is, I wanted this blog to have some feel good's.
There was a lot to take in with sharing this accident, but where I want to take this is, you just never know who you are going to meet, and what that impact will have on you.
Don't get me wrong, there was still a massive amount of healing to do, and I had to work though that at my own pace. My new world came with a lot of adjustments. It took years to learn to walk properly again, to walk for longer that five minutes without limping or being in pain. A few more operations to get through, but things slowly became a lot easier, and with this man becoming my cheerleader and number 1 supporter, made the hill to climb a little less steep. He cheered me on every step of the way, but also gave me humble reminders when I would say, "I hate my legs, the scares are so ugly", or "I'm never wearing shorts or a dress again", it would be him that would say, "but you HAVE legs," and, "you need to wear those scares with pride, you have a story to tell, just some people wear there stories on the inside, you wear yours on the inside AND the outside".
Meeting this man, put some positive energy and balance back in my world, AND, he owned a motorcycle!!!
This girl from the city fell in love with, not only the boy from the country, but the country also, and it was not long before I moved away from the city permanently, and our adventure's began. Motorcycling adventures being at the top of the list.
We would go out on the bike most weekends, and we had both always wanted to travel the world on bikes.
Our first tour was in New Zealand - we thought we would travel our own back yard before we went exploring the world, so we did the South Island of New Zealand, 3500kmin 5 days, with loads adventures. Being Chinese New Year, it was the busiest week of the calendar year for the South Island, and us being us, we didn't book any accomodation, our plan was to just "wing it"
And so our adventures to travel the world together on motorcycle began.

Ha ha, thanks Gary, it’s a line that has stayed with me always. Good to be writing again. There is a load more to come x
THE BEST WAY TO GET OVER SOMEONE GIRL......... IS TO GET UNDER SOMEONE ELSE. That's hilarious, but probably true. The wording might be slightly different for a man, but the meaning is the same. Good to see you are writing again. :-)
